Concrete Topping on Elevated Floors

We utilize Gyp-Crete between apartments that have a home above or below it. Gyp-Crete offers a variety of benefits within a building from safety to durability. But in terms of sound reduction it truly shines. Noise simply does not travel through floors with Gyp-Crete in comparison to those that do not include it.

Drywall Caulking

Acoustic caulk functions to seal up drywall seams in a way that reduces sound transfer. In the same way that other caulks water proof seals, acoustic caulk prevents sound from coming through. The Spruce wrote that it can reduce sound by up to 15%.

Noise Barrier Sound Mats

Through the process of sound absorption, isolation, and dampening, noise barrier sound mats reduce sound between apartments and built-to-rent townhomes. This dense material serves to stop noise and vibrations in between units that share a common wall.

Fully Insulated Double Wall Assembly

The walls between attached rentals feature double wall assemblies for various reasons related to safety and build quality. However, this building technique also cuts down on sound between townhomes. This technique is easy to wrap your head around, in that it mirrors construction for a single-family home. Each townhome has a full exterior wall with air in between the homes. So you can think of each built-to-rent townhome as an individual completed home with common exterior elements.

Sound Wave Dampening Channels

These channels built into ceilings and common area shared walls are highly specific method of dampening sound. These channels utilize space within these shared walls to dampen sound.

Insulation in Select Interior Walls

Regular insulation does serve to reduce sound to some degree as well. So in addition to placing insulation in the obvious places it belongs in a unit, we also place it within specific interior walls to deaden some sound within your apartment or townhome.
